Drink-driver to face court after crash involving young child

Police arrested the 21-year-old Ormeau man on Saturday night after they arrived at Yawalpah Rd in Pimpama just before 10.30pm where a red Holden ute had collided with a silver BMW sedan.Paramedics assessed a primary school-aged child at the scene, however no one in the incident required transportation to hospital.The man is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on September 24 for high-range drink-driving charges.Meanwhile, on the same day a single-vehicle rollover on a private property just west of Gympie saw four patients treated for injuries. Two rescue helicopters and paramedics arrived at a dam located on a private property just after 3.30pm on Saturday where a vehicle had rolled. An elderly woman was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital in a serious condition with a significant head injury and chest pain. Meanwhile, an elderly man was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with head and arm injuries, also in a serious but stable condition. Two women, one in her 50s and another in her 20s, were transported in stable conditions to Gympie Hospital with chest pain.
