NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Brian Benjamin will be sworn in Thursday as the new lieutenant governor of New York.

Benjamin was a state senator representing Harlem and the Upper West Side before Gov. Kathy Hochul tapped him for the job.

The 44-year-old succeeds Hochul, who took office last month after former Gov. Andrew Cuomo resigned over sexual harassment allegations.
